The Municipal Group of Companies, based in Bedford Nova Scotia, is a large, diversified organization engaged in all major aspects of the heavy civil construction, mining, and environmental services within the Atlantic Provinces. Job Summary
A Health and Safety Advisor partners with operations teams to provide guidance, support, and practical solutions that reinforce a positive safety culture and drive safe work practices.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Coach and mentor employees and supervisors on safety programs, policies, and procedures
- Conduct regular site visits and inspections to encourage best practices
- Investigate incidents and near-misses and help develop corrective and preventive measures
- Promote open dialogue around safety issues and encourage a culture of accountability and care
- Participate in audits (COR) and contribute to the maintenance of safety certifications
- Assist with compiling safety metrics and reporting for leadership
- All other duties as required
Required Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, and Experience
- Construction experience and training preferred
- Strong communication skills — verbal, written, and interpersonal
- Professionalism, reliability, and the ability to work independently
- Competent with Microsoft Office and safety management software (e.g. eCompliance)
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License
- Must be willing and able to travel within Nova Scotia
