Wind Turbine Blade Inspector

(Apply online only) per day (negotiable & dependent on your current remuneration) + site-based + average 45hr working week Mon-Fri + paid travel time (up to 2x days a week) + overtime + 12-month contract (rolling) + immediate start

Wind Turbine Blade Inspector responsibilities include:

  • Provide independent inspection and quality control services relating to Wind Turbine blades.
  • Conduct thorough visual inspections of wind turbine blades, looking for signs of damage, wear, corrosion, and other anomalies.
  • Utilize specialized tools and techniques like ultrasonic testing, X-ray, and eddy current testing to detect internal defects and assess the structural integrity of the blades.
  • Evaluate the extent and nature of any damage found, determining whether repairs, replacements, or further investigation is necessary.
  • Accurately record inspection findings, including the location and severity of damage, and maintain detailed records of blade conditions and repairs.
  • Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, including findings, recommendations, and any necessary corrective actions.
  • Work with blade repair technicians and other specialists to ensure timely and effective repairs.
  • Adhere to strict safety protocols when working at heights, in confined spaces, and with specialized equipment.
  • Develop and maintain excellent relationships with both internal and external Customers.

Wind Turbine Blade Inspector profile:

  • Relevant technical HNC / HND or Degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy or similar.
  • GWO certifications in Blade Repair, Advanced Rescue, Enhanced First Aid etc.
  • Rope Access skills & qualifications (eg IRATA) essential.
  • Ideally, min 2-3yrs Wind Turbine Blade Inspections experience + 5years engineering experience within Wind Turbine fabrication & installation.
  • Knowledge of blade repair techniques, including leading edge erosion, trailing edge, and lightning strike repairs.
  • Ensuring the structural integrity of the blades.
  • Optimizing blade performance and reducing maintenance costs.
  • Preventing failures and extending the life of wind turbines.
  • Providing evidence-based advice to clients for informed decision-making.
