IT Security Operations Engineer
Permanent – 50k-60k
Location: Hybrid – Blackburn
Your new company
A growing organisation in the optical space are currently looking for their first IT Security Operations Engineer to join their ranks due to organisational growth. The company was voted in the top 100 places to work in the UK, and they provide a strong benefits package which is also due to improve.
Your new role
You will be supporting the Infrastructure Manager and the Head of IT in a broad variety of work, with the ability to gain a lot of different experience across multiple areas. You will be the go-to person when it comes to implementing new security solutions. You will provide insight and experience from a security perspective. You will be a key member of the IT team, and you will play a big part in upcoming projects, providing experience and expertise across Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, and vulnerability management, amongst others. The business is looking to bring on third-party security coverage, which you will also be involved with. This role has a lot of growth opportunities over the next few years, with the possibility to grow into a Lead/Manager role.
What you\’ll need to succeed
- Technical skills and strong communication skills
- Strong experience in a similar role, ideally with experience within Microsoft and/or Barracuda infrastructures.
- Experience with hands-on security engineering duties, assurance, and risk assessments. You will need to have experience and be able to hit the ground running here.
- Experience working with third-party providers.
- A good 3+ years in a similar role – if you\’re coming from an Analyst role, you\’ll need to have had a lot of exposure to the engineering side of things.
What you\’ll get in return
- Between 50k and 60k salary.
- 34 days annual leave, including birthday and bank holidays.
- Hybrid working once probation has been passed, then it will be 1 or 2 days a week working from home.
