Overview

Are you an enthusiastic nurse, either established or a newly qualified looking to grow your career in the Children and Young People sector? Our supportive West Dorset Locality team (covering areas Lyme, Bridport, Beaminster and Maiden Newton) would love to hear from you!

Responsibilities

  • As a Public Health Staff Nurse 0 – 19, participate in the delivery of the Healthy Child Programme and work in partnership with children, young people and families in environments such as family hubs, clinic settings, family homes and schools including early years settings.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions and packages of care to people on an allocated caseload; promote independence and autonomy; work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Work closely with other members of the CYP Public Health Service 0-19 to provide services in response to identified needs, including safeguarding and supporting children and young people and their families, using evidence-based, early intervention strategies.
  • Be proactive in maintaining good working relationships with partners, colleagues and community organisations, providing health advice regarding the management and care of clients/service users. Evaluate care, taking appropriate action leading to an improvement in quality standards.
  • Work autonomously under the guidance of the specialist community public health nurse and support and train junior members of the team including students.

Requirements and Conditions

  • This role is a part-time post of 22.5 or 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Hours can be worked flexibly (e.g., condensed hours or smaller hours covering five days). This can be discussed further at interview.
  • This role offers hybrid working with remote home working and covering the locality of Weymouth and Portland.
  • Employment in this post requires an Enhanced DBS check, which the Trust will cover the cost. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.
  • Applications from candidates that require current Skilled Worker sponsorship to work in the UK are ineligible to apply for this position.
