The primary purpose of the Laboratory Technician\’s position is to perform assigned tasks, including but not limited to, the various test methods and analysis of data to determine compliance to specified standards. These test methods will be physical, chemical, and statistical in nature. The technician will be responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all equipment in the lab and the tracking and maintenance of various data collections. In addition, the Lab Technician may be called upon to determine trends and present data to facility leadership team members in order to initiate appropriate actions.
•Read, comprehend, and follow all JHSAs, technical specifications, and work instructions for the assigned process task.
• Start up, operate, and shut down all equipment related to the laboratory
• Conduct quality inspections of raw and in-process materials and communicate results.
• Prepare panel samples in accordance with standardized requirements.
• Conduct basic chemistry tasks related to raw materials, finished product, and other assigned areas.
• Understand customer-specific board applications and ensure timely product releases based on customer needs.
• Assist in the installation of all new equipment, components, and systems, or the improvement of existing equipment, components, and systems as required.
• Dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with corporate policy and state and federal regulations.
• Communicate with external organizations as required regarding Laboratory processes and results.
• Present quality trends to plant leadership to facilitate appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
• Work closely with all team members, supervision, and leadership to identify, report, and correct existing or potential safety hazards, quality issues, productivity improvements, or cost reduction initiatives.
• Perform preventive maintenance procedures on laboratory equipment as scheduled or directed.
• Complete all required safety, quality, and production documentation.
• Communicate with the production team on any quality issues observed in the plant.
• All other duties as assigned by supervisor or a member of leadership
Requirements
• The ability to read and comprehend work instructions of a technical nature.
• The ability to operate or learn to operate laboratory equipment.
• The ability to work with electric, pneumatic, or hand tools.
• The ability to comprehend and manipulate metric and imperial measurements.
• The ability to work effectively with other members of the facility team.
• The ability to work without constant supervision.
• The ability to creatively problem-solve, individually or as part of a group.
• The ability to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
• Basic comprehension of chemistry, physics, and statistics.
• Intermediate or advanced PC user skills, including the ability to successfully navigate/manipulate Microsoft Office software.
