Health and Safety Manager Full Time, 37 hours Salary: £34,947 per annum Burton on Trent, Town Centre Campus Who are we looking for? Burton & South Derbyshire College is seeking a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead and champion health and safety across our diverse college estate. This pivotal role involves overseeing a comprehensive health and safety management system, building a culture of safe working practices, and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and sector standards. You’ll provide expert advice and guidance, helping the College maintain high standards and continuously improve its approach to health and safety. Working closely with the Head of Facilities, you will: Lead the development and review of Health & Safety policies and procedures Conduct audits and support incident investigations Manage and review risk assessments Attend Operational Management Team meetings Design and deliver engaging health and safety training Prepare and present clear, insightful reports to stakeholders Collaborate with teams across the College to embed health and safety into everyday operationsWe’re looking for someone who is: IOSH qualified, with HSE training in at least two key areas (e.g., manual handling, COSHH) Experienced in advising on health and safety within complex, multi-risk environments Skilled in writing policies, procedures, reports, and risk assessments Thoroughly knowledgeable about UK health and safety legislation and best practice A confident communicator with the ability to influence and engage othersYou’ll play a key role in shaping a positive safety culture across the College, supporting staff and students to feel confident and informed in their working and learning environments. Support for NEBOSH training is available for the right candidate, including funding and dedicated study time, as part of our commitment to professional development and continuous improvement.
