Business Development Manager Location: Crewe Contract Type: Permanent Hours: Full time Salary: Competitive Main Purpose We are looking for a commercially focused and results-driven professional to join our team as a Business Development Manager. Reporting to the Head of Business Development – Infrastructure & Manufacturing, you will be directly responsible for driving the growth of our product, service, and solution offerings to both existing and new customers. Focused on diversifying our sales portfolio with existing customers and building relationships and winning new business with new customers, you will be required to work collaboratively with teams from across the business to ensure targets for sales, profit and growth are met. Regular travel to meet customers, sometimes at short notice, will be a pre-requisite. The hybrid role offers flexibility, but ideally you will be located near to the Crewe office, which will be your home office location. We also have sites in Doncaster and Southport and would consider these as home bases for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities Portfolio Sales Expansion: • Lead efforts to expand sales and adoption of our portfolio (products, services, and solutions) to existing customers. Identify and capitalize on opportunities to cross-sell, up-sell, and deepen relationships. New Business Development: • Actively prospect and develop new business opportunities by introducing our portfolio to potential customers. Identify key market trends and customer needs to shape compelling value propositions. Strategic Planning & Execution: • Work closely with the Head of Business Development to execute a detailed business development strategy aligned with the company’s growth goals. Identify target markets, customer segments, and key decision-makers. Customer Engagement & Relationship Management: • Build and nurture strong relationships with key customers, acting as the go-to expert for the portfolio. Leverage deep industry knowledge to demonstrate the value and benefits of our offerings to current and prospective clients. Sales Enablement & Support: • Collaborate with the customer engagement team and other internal stakeholders to develop sales collateral, pitch materials, and solutions that effectively communicate the value of our portfolio. Market Intelligence: • Continuously monitor the competitive landscape and market trends to identify opportunities and adjust strategies accordingly. Provide feedback to the product and marketing teams based on customer insights. Reporting & Performance Tracking: • Track performance metrics for portfolio sales and pipeline development. Regularly report on progress to senior leadership, highlighting successes, challenges, and potential risks. Collaborative Leadership: • Work cross-functionally with marketing, product development, operations, and customer engagement teams to ensure seamless execution of sales strategies and alignment of objectives. Person Specification • Demonstrable experience in business development, sales, or portfolio management, preferably gained in Rail Infrastructure, Engineering, or Technology sectors. • Proven track record of success in driving sales, expanding portfolios, and building new business within a B2B environment. • Strong interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to engage and influence C-level executives and key decision-makers. • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling business cases and presentations for diverse audiences. • Ability to think strategically, develop long-term plans, and adapt to changing market conditions. • Proficient in using data and metrics to inform decisions, track progress, and identify areas for improvement. • Excellent leadership capabilities, with experience managing cross-functional teams and working collaboratively with various departments. • Commercial and financial acumen to support the development of strategic pursuits and review of sales forecasts.
