A look into the Apprenticeship Scheme
Are you ready to take the first step in a dynamic and rewarding career? Based at our purpose-built distribution centre in Mallusk, our Logistics Apprenticeship offers the perfect opportunity to gain hands-on experience and industry-recognised qualifications in a fast-paced warehouse and transport environment.

Over the course of up to two years, youll learn how a highly successful logistics operation works, gaining practical skills, valuable licences (including manual handling equipment, pick truck, pallet truck, counterbalance, and reach forklifts), and completing a Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Warehousing & Storage, along with a Level 2 Certificate in Employee Rights and Responsibilities in the Logistics Industry.

Delivered in partnership with Loughview Training Services Ltd, your apprenticeship will include a blend of on-the-job learning and short classroom sessions to help you succeed.

The speed at which you progress is up to you!

As an apprentice, youll gain valuable experience in either our Ambient, Fresh or Foodservice warehouse and spend time with the Transport team to understand the full supply chain from supplier to customer.

Your daily responsibilities will include:
Unloading and storing incoming goods
Picking and loading customer orders
Assisting drivers with deliveries
Using technology to manage stock movements
Understanding stock levels, records, scheduling, and planning
Following all health and safety procedures

Upon completing the programme, youll choose whether to specialise in Warehouse or Transport, with opportunities to advance further.

Interested in driving? You could progress to our Warehouse to Wheels programme and train as a fully qualified HGV Driver **(subject to minimum age and service criteria).

We also offer team-leading training for those with their sights set on management.

What do I need to apply?

You will be a resident in the UK for over 3 years and no longer in full-time education.

It would be ideal if you had GCSE English and Maths (Grades A-C) or equivalent but, if not, we would help you gain Essential Skills with your Warehousing & Storage qualification.

The attributes youll need include:
A strong team player.

Good focus to work with accuracy and pay attention to detail.
Ability to multitask and work in a fast- paced environment.

Hours of Work:
This is a fixed-term contract, lasting 2 years. You will work 38 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Henderson Wholesale warehouses require availability from 8am-4pm, Monday-Thursday and 8am-4.30pm on Fridays. Henderson Foodservice require an availability of 10am-6pm, Monday-Thursday, 10am-6.30pm on Fridays. As the logistics operation is 24-hour, some flexibility will be required in order to meet the requirements of the role.

If your application is successful, youll likely be invited to attend an initial informal interview via Zoom, followed by an in-person assessment centre.

If youre successful at the assessment centre stage, youll then be invited to complete a pre-employment medical, which will include a drug and alcohol test.
