Are you a qualified healthcare professional looking for a new challenge away from traditional clinical settings? If you’re a nurse (RMN, RNLD, RGN), occupational therapist, physiotherapist, paramedic or doctor, you could use your skills in a different way as a functional specialist.
At Capita, we’re looking for compassionate and detail-oriented professionals to join our Health Assessment Advisory Service (HAAS) as Functional Specialists.
In this role, you’ll use your clinical knowledge to carry out functional assessments and compile evidence-based reports that help the Northern Ireland Department for Communities (NIDFC) make informed decisions about benefit claims.
Location: Belfast + 9 sites across Northern Ireland – Armagh, Ballymena, Coleraine, Dungannon, Enniskillen Foyle, Newry, Omagh and Portadown.
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 09:00–17:00
Salary: £38,500, increasing to £39,500 upon meeting approval

What You’ll be doing :
- Conduct telephone assessments and face-to-face functional assessments of individuals with disabilities or health conditions.
- Compile clear, concise and factual medical reports – no treatment or diagnosis required.
- Collaborate with regional managers and administrators to meet service level agreements.
- Use IT systems to support clinical decision-making and report writing.
- Embrace ongoing feedback and professional development.
What We’re Looking for :
- One year\’s post-registration experience as a nurse (RMN, RNLD, RGN), occupational therapist, physiotherapist, paramedic or doctor
- Fully registered with a relevant UK regulatory body (NMC, HCPC, GMC), without restriction or conditions and with a valid PIN
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and report-writing skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- A professional, adaptable, and team-oriented mindset.
- Willingness to undergo BPSS security clearance.
Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete government baseline personnel security standard vetting. This is the recognised standard for the pre-employment screening of individuals with access to government asset
