Role overview:
The Art Director is the creative visionary responsible for developing and executing impactful visual designs and campaigns that align with Strathberry’s brand identity. This role combines strategic thinking, creative expertise, and leadership to bring ideas to life across multiple channels and platforms globally, ensuring a cohesive, innovative, and engaging brand experience. This role would work closely with the Brand Founders, The Head of Marketing and Brand and our inhouse Photography team.
Location:
This role can be based in either in Edinburgh or London, with frequent travel required to Edinburgh.
Key Responsibilities:
Creative Leadership
- Develop and define the overall creative vision for campaigns, projects, and visual storytelling. Build on the Brand Framework completed in 2024.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, creative teams, and external partners to translate ideas into bold, inspiring concepts.
- Oversee the development of mood boards, storyboards, and visual presentations to convey creative ideas effectively.
Campaign Development
- Prepare creative concepts for campaigns, pop-up activations, window displays, and other brand experiences.
- Work with Founders to ensure alignment on product selection for the campaign imagery
- Ensure that all visual design elements—such as graphics, layouts, colours, and typography—are executed to a high standard.
- Develop themes and concepts that align with strategic goals and engage target audiences.
Visual Execution and Oversight
- Supervise creative brand styling, including set design, photo and video shoots, and on-location direction.
- Ensure consistency across all brand platforms and experiences, including digital, print, windows, and in-store activations.
- Oversee freelancers, and external agencies, providing clear creative direction and constructive feedback.
- Ensure Graphic design executed to highest of level.
Pop-Up & Experiential Design
- Lead and own the creative strategy for pop-up concepts, ensuring unique, immersive experiences that align with the brand’s vision.
- Develop visual storytelling that resonates with audiences and drives brand engagement.
- Collaborate with production teams to ensure timely delivery and successful execution of experiences.
Cross-Platform Execution
- Work collaboratively with the key Management Team in Strathberry to ensure that all creative concepts are delivered seamlessly across multiple platforms, including:
- Window displays
- In-store experiences
- Pop-ups
- Digital campaigns (web, social media, video, etc.)
- Printed materials (advertising, lookbooks, packaging)
Collaboration & Leadership
- Partner with the Founders, Head of Marketing and Brand and production teams to align on creative strategies.
- Inspire and mentor creative team members, fostering a collaborative, results-driven environment.
- Manage timelines, budgets, and resources to ensure projects are delivered efficiently and to the highest standard.
Required skills & experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Fine Arts, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in creative leadership, art direction, or design roles. Experience within luxury brands is a plus.
- Strong portfolio showcasing a variety of work across campaigns, window displays, and experiential design.
- Expertise in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), and other relevant creative tools.
- Strong project management, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to conceptualize and execute campaigns from start to finish, ensuring alignment with strategic goals.
- Experience leading photo/video shoots, working with stylists, photographers, and production teams.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to handle multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
