Leadership and Management Lead the Maths department team (teachers, TAs, possibly numeracy coordinators). Line manage departmental staff, oversee appraisals and professional development. Set departmental vision aligned with whole-school priorities. Curriculum Design and Delivery Plan, review, and implement the KS3–KS5 maths curriculum (including GCSE and A-Level if offered). Ensure high standards of teaching and learning across all key stages. Introduce or maintain schemes of work, assessments, and intervention strategies. Data and Progress Monitoring Analyse performance data to track pupil progress and identify areas for improvement. Report on departmental performance to SLT (Senior Leadership Team). Lead on strategies to close attainment gaps and support underachieving students. Teaching Typically teach a reduced timetable, often including top sets or exam classes. Model outstanding teaching and support others to improve their practice. Departmental Administration Manage the department’s budget and resources.
