Base pay range

Contract: Permanent, Full Time (37.5 hours)
Salary: £ 36,225 – 40,624 per annum

Centrepoint, the UK’s leading youth homelessness charity, is looking for a Senior Public Affairs Officer to join our Policy and Prevention team based in London .

About Us
We help vulnerable young people by giving them the practical and emotional support they need to find a job and live independently. Centrepoint provides homeless young people with accommodation, health support and life skills in order to get them back into education, training and employment. We want to end youth homelessness by 2037.
Together with our partners, we support over 16,000 young people each year.
The Role
The Senior Public Affairs Officer role is an exciting opportunity for an experienced and strategic communicator with a strong understanding of the UK political landscape and experience working in or with Parliament. This is a chance to make a tangible impact on national policy while advancing your career in a mission-driven organisation.
Bringing your expertise in political engagement and public affairs, you will play a central role in shaping Centrepoint’s relationships with key decision-makers. You’ll drive public affairs activity to influence local and national policy, ensuring that the voices of young people facing homelessness are championed at every level of government.
Hybrid Working
Centrepoint operates a hybrid working model. The requirement is a minimum of 50% of your working week. For most full-time colleagues, this means attending the office for five days over a two-week period (e.g., two days one week and three days the next). For colleagues on different contracts (including part-time or compressed contracts) this will be adjusted accordingly.
About You

  • Strong understanding of parliamentary and legislative processes.
  • Proven experience working in public affairs and/or within Parliament or government.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including producing clear briefings and reports.
  • Ability to build strategic relationships with stakeholders across government and the voluntary sector.
  • Skilled in analysing complex information and developing policy insight.
  • Confident stakeholder management, with experience engaging senior political and sector figures.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Deliver clear political insight and advice on developments affecting Centrepoint.
  • Lead public affairs work to raise Centrepoint’s voice and profile in political spaces.
  • Support the Public Affairs Manager in the development and delivery of a high-quality public affairs plan.
  • Represent Centrepoint at external events to promote our public affairs goals.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with campaigns colleagues, senior civil servants, sector partners, and third-sector organisations to achieve shared goals.
  • Identify and stay informed with key political issues that impact young people’s access to housing and support.
