Job Overview
The Trainer & Skills Coach will manage and develop innovative teaching and learning experiences across practical and theoretical skills within apprenticeship standards, including but not limited to Nuclear Operative & Nuclear Health Physics Monitor. The role involves supporting apprentices to succeed through guidance and encouragement, developing technical and soft skills, and contributing to curriculum development aligned with industry practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and deliver training programs for apprentices in nuclear-related fields.
- Provide constructive feedback and assess learner progress regularly.
- Develop new curriculum content focused on industry needs and learner journey.
Essential Qualifications and Experience
- Strong engineering background, preferably nuclear or multi-skilled.
- Experience in areas such as Nuclear Plant Systems & Equipment, Monitoring, Operations, Decommissioning, Waste Management, Safety, and Regulations.
- Understanding of assessment methods, coaching techniques, and apprenticeship standards (Level 2 Nuclear Operative & Nuclear Health Physics Monitor).
- Knowledge of apprenticeship funding rules, End Point Assessment, Safeguarding, and Prevent Duty.
- Experience with e-portfolios (e.g., Smart Assessor) and learner management systems (e.g., Pro Monitor).
Qualifications
- Level 3 Engineering qualification.
- Recognised teaching qualification or willingness to obtain one.
- Recognised Assessor qualification (e.g., A1, Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement).
Desirable Qualifications
- Maths and English GCSEs or equivalent at grade C or above.
- Quality Assurance qualification (e.g., V1, Level 4 IQA).
- Coaching qualification, Higher Education in Engineering, and digital training badges (e.g., Microsoft Learn).
