Role and Scope
The BMS / Controls Engineer is responsible for working on assignments covering all aspects of industrial and commercial energy usage, energy savings, utility plant redevelopment and CO2 emission reduction. The Controls Engineer will formulate, evaluate and prepare technical analysis on the control systems for industrial and commercial schemes during feasibility studies, scheme design and project implementation.
The BMS / Controls Engineer will be expected to work in areas covering CHP, refrigeration, Air Source and Ground Source Heat pumps, HVAC, boilers, compressed air, lighting systems, etc.
The Controls Engineer will have a good level of technical expertise, have a sound track record with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience. The candidate will be either a chartered Engineer or in the process of obtaining Chartered status.
Responsibilities
Specific Duties
The BMS / Controls Engineer will be responsible for specific duties as follows:
Feasibility Studies
- Assessment of existing control system configuration and operation at client sites.
- Development of the control system requirements to meet proposed energy project(s) including interface with existing control provisions, client and Ameresco interface requirements, instrumentation requirements, etc.
- Control system conceptual design and specification
- Summary report Scheme Design (Front End Design):
- F urther definition of conceptual design from feasibility stage including on-site assessments as necessary
- Finalise scheme design based on final energy solutions
- Development of User Requirements Specification (URS) including details on the control strategy, instrument schedules, I/O requirements, hardware specification, data storage, HMI mimic requirements, Remote access provisions, Interface with existing plant and control systems, etc.
- Technical Support throughout Procurement and Construction process for projects including:
- Provide technical support to the project implementation team throughout the implementation period
- Technical scope of works for sub-contractors
- Interface with suppliers
- Technical queries
- Approval of design changes
- Resolution of issues
- Site visits to ensure compliance with scope, specification, build quality, etc
- Attend HAZOP and technical review meetings as required Technical support for Safe Commissioning and handover of projects including:
Commissioning plan
Interactive planning sessions with client/sub-contractors
Installation, Operational and Performance protocols
Validation on plant performance
Implementation of controls in line with agreed strategy
Sign off and hand over documentation
Technical supervision and mentoring of junior engineering staff.
General Duties
- To update the company work monitoring systems with accurate details
- Assist in improving operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work co-operatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
