Connecting HVDC and renewables specialists to pioneering projects across EMEA

Taylor Hopkinson is working with a leading global manufacturer of offshore wind foundations to appoint a Head of Projects (Fabrication).

As the Head of Projects, you will be responsible and accountable for providing strategic leadership, oversight, and high-level guidance on all aspects of contract performance throughout the whole project lifecycle both internally and externally key stakeholders.

This role will primarily lead a portfolio of recently awarded offshore wind fabrication projects in the UK with a globally recongnised manufacturer.

You will ensure alignment with business goals, project budgets, operational excellence, and timely project delivery while upholding the highest standards in technical, commercial, and scheduling performance. Your leadership will be pivotal in fostering collaboration across business functions and ensuring that all projects are delivered safely, to specification and to budget.

This is a full time, staff role based on site in production facility in the North East of England.

Role:

  • Oversee the overall performance of key projects, including scope, schedule, financial performance, risk management, quality assurance, and resource allocation, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives and industry best practices.
  • Lead, manage and develop the Projects team including Project Managers, Project Coordinators and Planners.
  • Lead and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams across Finance, Commercial, Production, QA, HSE, Logistics, and Senior Management to drive project excellence and timely delivery within budget.
  • Serve as the primary senior point of contact with the customer\’s appointed representatives, including their engineers, and maintain strong, trusted relationships.
  • High-level internal and external reporting.
  • Risk identification, mitigation, and management across the three key project lifecycle (Contracting, Execution, and Post Delivery Management).
  • Own and continuously develop key KPI\’s across the full project management department, including client deliverables.
  • Take ownership of key financial payment milestones all projects.
  • Regularly engage in strategic meetings with key internal and external stakeholders (Clients, Senior Management, Production, Suppliers, and Sub-contractors), driving discussions focused on problem-solving, project milestones, and mitigation strategies.
  • Develop and implement strategic risk mitigation plans, proactively addressing challenges in collaboration with business leaders, ensuring project success.
  • Champion the development and continuous improvement of core Project Management systems and procedures to align with industry best practices, particularly in offshore wind and large-scale manufacturing projects.
  • Ensure the effective management of supplier and subcontractor performance, monitoring deliverables, contractual obligations, and ensuring projects remain on schedule and within budget.

Requirements:

  • Advanced certifications (Prince 2, Scrum, PMP, or equivalent) with a deep understanding of project management methodologies.
  • Substantial experience in a senior project management or leadership role, ideally within the offshore wind, heavy engineering, or manufacturing sectors.
  • Extensive experience in managing high-value, large-scale projects, including technical, commercial, and scheduling aspects.
  • Proven experience leading large, multidisciplinary teams across various business pillars, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence, and accountability.
  • Demonstrated success in managing client relationships across a broad range of skills and departments, particularly in face-to-face, high-stakes environments, ensuring clear communication and value-driven outcomes.
  • Ability to mitigate and deliver positive outcomes for contract claims.
  • Expertise in project planning (P6), supplier relationships (particularly in steel plates, flanges, fabrication, and coating), and strong understanding of HSE and QA requirements within the industry.
  • Exceptional understanding of commercial contract management, with strong ethics, negotiation skills, and a focus on project profitability and long-term business success.
  • A clear understanding of success in delivering large-scale, high-value projects, with the ability to manage complex challenges and drive positive outcomes.
