About the team and the role
Reporting to our Senior Finance Manager for Commercial Strategy, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of our Supplier Funding Transformation changes.
It\’s an exciting time for our business with the launch of several new tools and initiatives across finance and media, as well as some key changes to our reporting calendar. The role will be pivotal in the evolution of our \”Joint Business Plan\” process, helping to manage the successful roll out of these changes and ensuring our buying teams have the right tools and reporting available to support negotiating supplier contracts and achieving the businesses ambitious targets.
What you\’ll do
• Work with key stakeholders across our commercial and finance leadership teams to revolutionise our JBP process, ensuring its fit for purpose in the fast paced grocery retail environment.
• Be the trusted finance lead, managing the implementation of key projects across our Supplier Funding process for FY25. This will include the roll out of new tools, reporting and forecasting processes.
• Ensure that the new processes and tools are utilised to strengthen the existing financial controls for commercial income, ensuring that income is accounted for correctly and the wider process is GSCOP compliant.
• Transform and standardise documentation for negotiated contracts by identifying best practice, also ensuring consistency in record keeping across all PODs and systems
• Working alongside our data & insights colleagues, automate documents & reporting to enable faster evaluations and decision making
• Support in sensitivity analysis and forecasting of JBPs, ensuring that changes to pricing/promotions/mix by department & category are understood, and that forecasting can be more fluid
• Support our Finance Business Partners with insightful data to ensure buying plans are evaluated, with clear actions proposed to improve performance where appropriate.
• Ensure accurate reporting of JBP negotiations and analysis to CEO/CFO/CCO as part of monthly Business Performance Reviews
Who you are
- Qualified accountant with Strong academics
- Strong communication and influencing skills
- Strong Excel skills
- Highly numerate and analytical with a keen eye for detail that is deadline focused and goal oriented
- Enthusiastic to learn
- Experience of grocery retail/FMCG, especially supplier negotiations, is desirable but not essential
- Excellent communication skills and able to build relationships with key stakeholders, both internal & external to the business.
