Quay 2 Quay is a newly established maritime transport company providing ferry services in and around the Solent in the UK. Targeting routes that are some of the most popular in the UK the company is concentrating on passenger only vessel services providing scheduled crossings as well as tourist and private hire trips. The Quay 2 Quay concept has been put together by a team with experience in the provision of maritime services, business development and finance which provides a unique combination to take advantage of what they believe is a gap in the market.

Starting with a service between Lymington and Yarmouth the company intends to offer greater capacity and customer choice across the route together with an improved overall customer experience. This will be accomplished using a new state of the art 15m LOA passenger boat with both enclosed and open passenger accommodation, ‘all weather’ capability being able to travel in all but the most severe weather conditions, together with the provision of onboard refreshments.

The Company is looking to hire a Deckhand / Able Seaman and a Trainee to assist with the provision of these services.

Key Responsibilities:

•Perform deck maintenance tasks such as cleaning, painting, greasing, ropework, and equipment storage. Ensure standards are always maintained in all areas of the vessel.

•Operate deck machinery and equipment safely.

•Perform designated security duties.

•Assist with counting and reporting of total number of passengers onboard for every crossing.

•Assist with safely and efficiently completing loading / unloading of passengers and operating loading ramps.

•Assist with monitoring movement of passengers in respect of safety measures.

•Serve as crew and perform navigational watchkeeping duties.

Qualifications:

•Certificate of Proficiency as Able Seafarer Deck Regulation II/5 OR Efficient Deck Hand Certificate with demonstrable experience of working within the industry.

•A valid ENG1 certificate.

•Relevant STCW qualifications for seafarers serving on UK vessels.

•You must hold all of the Qualifications listed above in order to apply, or alternatively apply for a trainee position.

•Applicants will need to have the right to work in the UK or a British Passport.

Technical / Professional Skills:

Vessel Maintenance – able to demonstrate a range of best practices when undertaking maintenance on vessels (including chipping, painting, greasing and planned maintenance).

Watchkeeping – for those with Able Seaman certificate, you will be able to demonstrate best practices whilst assisting the OOW.

Ferry – experience of working on a ferry service is ideal but not essential.

Experience:

Demonstrable experience of working on Merchant ships.
