What does a successful Mainframe Systems and Applications Director do at Fiserv? As a Mainframe Systems and Applications Director at Fiserv, you will be responsible for maintaining and managing the efficient operation of the Fiserv EMEA mainframe computing environments within the Global Vision IT team based in Basildon, UK. Your deep understanding of mainframe architecture, operating systems like IBM\’s z/OS, and the applications running on these platforms, will be critical in providing technical direction and leadership. This key role involves collaboration with various internal teams across EMEA and the USA, ensuring the stability and efficiency of mainframe systems.
What You Will Do

  • Lead and provide guidance for mainframe systems software configuration and settings.
  • Oversee and manage a small team of systems/analyst programmers.
  • Coordinate and manage onshore and offshore team resources.
  • Work closely with international colleagues to ensure system stability and integrity.
  • Handle software vulnerabilities and coordinate system software releases.
  • Manage mainframe IPLs and implement continuous improvements.
  • Coordinate application software releases and liaise with vendors as necessary.
  • Provide consultation services to Client Services and represent Fiserv in client incident calls.
  • Ensure production systems\’ software stability and quality applications development.

What You Will Need To Have

  • 20+ years of experience in mainframe systems/applications support.
  • 8+ years of experience in leading small teams of systems programmers.
  • 8+ years of experience in Z/OS architectures, systems software, and application software programming and configuration.
  • Experience with IBM mainframe Z/OS systems, OPS MVS, IBM MQ Series, Assembler, IBM CICS/COBOL, LU0/LU2, Rexx, Ezytrieve.
  • Bachelor\’s degree in computer science or a relevant field, and/or equivalent military experience.

What Would Be Great To Have

  • 6+ years of experience with vendor software such as BMC IAM, IBM CDC, IBM Enterprise Extender, and schedulers (CA7/CA11 or CTRL-M).
  • 6+ years of experience and understanding of credit card systems, particularly VisionPlus.
  • Knowledge of networks, infrastructure, and Open Systems software connecting into the mainframe.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work autonomously.
  • Adaptability to work flexible hours and provide on-call support as required.
