At Foster + Partners, innovation and sustainability are at the heart of everything we do. We’re looking for an Environmental Design Analyst to join our Specialist Modelling Group (SMG) – a dynamic team pushing the boundaries of environmental performance in the built environment.

The Role:

As an Environmental Design Analyst, you\’ll be at the forefront of research and simulation across thermal, acoustic, and airflow aspects of architectural design. You’ll support project teams in embedding high-performance environmental strategies into their design work, using advanced simulation tools and data-driven insight to shape sustainable, intelligent architecture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform simulations and analysis on building thermal comfort, airflow, acoustics, and performance
  • Advise design teams on passive, low-energy, and bioclimatic strategies
  • Support integration of environmental design tools in project workflows
  • Develop methodologies for the visualization and communication of environmental data
  • Contribute to environmental design research and inform the generation of architectural form
  • Ensure alignment with Foster + Partners’ standards, procedures, and sustainable design principles

What We’re Looking For:

  • Undergraduate degree in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field
  • Master’s degree in Environmental Design or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong knowledge of bioclimatic and passive design strategies
  • Proficiency in environmental simulation software (e.g., CFD, energy modelling, daylight analysis)
  • Understanding of environmental assessment methods
  • Skilled in CAD software (preferably Microstation)
  • Excellent communication, visualisation, and graphic presentation skills
  • Ability to share technical knowledge across teams and support design integration
  • Passion for sustainable design as a career focus
  • Experience managing complex environmental data and workflows
