Senior Policy Advisor – UK & EU Focus

Job Summary
As a key member of the Corporate Affairs, Commercial, and TED team in Europe, this role reports directly to the Head of Corporate Affairs. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping the company’s understanding of and response to key regulatory and public policy developments across the UK and EU.
This position is instrumental in advising on emerging government policy, political and social trends, and stakeholder expectations. The focus is on regulation and internal strategy, working closely with teams across government relations, communities, communications, and more to enhance the company’s reputation and influence.
Key Responsibilities

Key Accountabilities
- Monitor and advise on public policy trends within key European jurisdictions.
- Develop strategies to address emerging issues impacting the company’s reputation and social licence to operate.
- Coordinate engagement with industry associations and lead internal input into advocacy efforts.
- Provide guidance on public policy positions and draft submissions to government.
- Support governance and standards related to industry association engagement.

Qualifications & Experience
Skills & Experience
• Experience working with the EU and senior government, regulatory and industry stakeholders on complex issues.
• Strong networking skills and demonstrated experience building relationships and influencing a broad range of stakeholders.
• Experience advising business leaders at a senior level.
• Knowledge of the political and economic environment and policy making structures in the EU and UK.
• Ability to understand policy issues (domestic and international) and interpret them for a business context.
• Strong understanding of EU / UK related energy, climate and emissions related policy matters (covering gas, LNG, ammonia and methane).
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Proven ability to create and implement engagement and advocacy plans and strategies.
• A team player with excellent collaboration skills, who works well in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to meet deadlines, establish clear priorities and deliver business outcomes.
• Prior experience in a Corporate Affairs, government, an industry association or policy institute is welcome.
Qualifications
• Undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline such as Political Science, International Relations, Public Policy, Economics, Law, Communications.
• Postgraduate qualifications are welcome.
