Join us to apply for the Experience Design Lead role at E.ON Next .

We’re looking for an Experience Design Lead to join our venture-building team. If you’re excited by the challenge of shaping ideas into tangible, testable propositions, and using design as a strategic tool to build the future of energy, you’re in the right place.

You’ll lead design thinking end-to-end – from an idea to low-fidelity experiments, to functioning MVPs that help us validate big assumptions fast.

This is a hybrid role – ideal for someone who brings a strong user research foundation and is equally confident contributing to design strategy, storytelling, and pitching ideas that resonate with both customers and stakeholders.

Here’s a taste of what you’ll be doing

  • Help teams move from ambiguity to clarity by discovering insights and framing them into compelling narratives and concepts.
  • Prototype like a founder – Build things that make ideas real, fast, using creative tools, AI, and other resources to move quickly and learn fast.
  • Think in journeys, not just screens – Use a service design lens to craft seamless, end-to-end experiences that connect digital, physical, and human touchpoints.
  • Shape the future, not just features – Help define the vision and strategy of early-stage ventures, co-creating new propositions with cross-functional teams.
  • Wear many hats – From running user research to mapping customer journeys and shaping team pitches.
  • Champion the user – Ensure ideas are grounded in real user needs but also push boundaries into bold, surprising directions.

Are we the perfect match?

You have 5+ years of experience in roles that blend user research, design, strategy, and storytelling. You may have worked in an agency, start-up, or fast-paced in-house environment where presenting work, pitching concepts, and engaging stakeholders is common.

We’d love to see a mix of the following

  • A background in experience, service, or product design, or similar fields that enable prototyping of new ventures.
  • Experience applying research to drive early proposition, product, or service design decisions.
  • A portfolio of projects involving early-stage products or services tested in real-world settings.
  • Strong visual and verbal storytelling skills to bring insights and ideas to life.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset – flexible, collaborative, and solution-focused.

It would be great if you had:

  • Experience in behavioral design.
  • Sector experience in energy, healthcare, finance, or other regulated industries.
  • Experience working within an innovation lab, venture studio, or start-up environment.
  • Curiosity about energy, climate, and systemic change.

Here’s what else you need to know

  • The role may close earlier due to high applications.
  • Location: London – E.ON Next, 47-53 Charterhouse Street, Farringdon, London, EC1M 6PB, with travel to other sites as required.
  • Benefits include 26 days holiday plus bank holidays, a generous pension scheme, flexible benefits, and more.

We are committed to diversity and inclusion and offer flexible working options.
