Overview:

Responsible for transitioning from another banking and/or sales function outside Global Capital Markets (GCM) to GCM to learn the products, services, and processes of the business, prior to moving to a Client Development Officer role within a defined period of time.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the products and services of the GCM business.
  • Learn and understand the specifics of conducting needs analysis for current and potential GCM clients and determining viable solutions based on those needs.
  • Develop and maintain a prospect list for new clients and influencers to generate new business opportunities for GCM while promoting all trust services. Begin developing relationships with clients, influencers, and prospects.
  • Stay updated on market developments and industry trends. Recognize market trends and suggest new product ideas as market conditions change.
  • Accompany experienced sales personnel to gain insight into the entire sales process in GCM.
  • Complete and maintain activity logs via contact management system to record activity.
  • Understand and adhere to the company’s risk and regulatory standards, policies, and controls in line with the company’s risk appetite. Escalate risk-related issues to management as needed.
  • Promote a diverse environment that reflects the M&T Bank brand.
  • Maintain internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points and issues raised by regulators.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibilities:

This role serves as a transitional position for an experienced salesperson or relationship manager to move from outside GCM to the sales function within GCM. It provides the opportunity to learn and understand GCM\’s corporate trust products and processes before selling products to clients full-time.

Education and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor\’s degree and at least 5 years of professional work, sales, or leadership experience, or in lieu of a degree, a combined minimum of 9 years of higher education and/or work experience, including at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in conducting and understanding needs analysis for potential clients.
