Our client, a successful, eclectic indie label, are seeking an experienced Label Manager . The ideal candidate will have substantial music industry experience, spanning artist campaign management, artist development, distribution, strategic planning, team leadership, and financial oversight, ideally within the independent sector. The successful candidate will be joining a growing business and assume responsibility for managing and optimizing the operational structure of the business.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing leadership to optimize the operational structure and managing the execution of the Label’s vision.
- Overseeing the full scope of the Label’s infrastructure across A&R, Marketing, Distribution, Sync, Content, and Live and Digital strategy.
- Ensuring smooth execution of campaigns with internal alignment and maintenance of internal systems, workflows, and calendars.
- Coordinating cross-functional communication between internal staff, external partners, and artist teams.
- Overseeing successful project execution by eliminating bottlenecks, issue resolution, and improving workflows.
- Collaborating extensively with the Founders on long-term planning, resource allocation, and growth strategies.
- Producing actionable quarterly and yearly operational roadmaps from high-level strategy.
- Identifying opportunities for cost efficiency, audience growth, and innovation across the business.
- Overseeing the execution of all artist release campaigns.
- Ensuring campaigns are commercially effective, meet deadlines, and are aligned with artists.
- Leading weekly campaign reporting, reviewing performance metrics, and adjusting strategy as needed.
- Supporting artist careers with effective release cycles, collaborations, touring support, and brand building.
- Taking responsibility for the Label’s budgets, including forecasting and reporting.
- Collaborating with finance and accounting teams to track expenditure, optimize spend, and monitor cash flow.
- Leading negotiations with service providers, freelancers, and vendors.
- Overseeing daily operations of A&R, Marketing, Digital, Creative, Sync, and Partnerships departments.
- Serving as a senior point of contact for artists, managers, and distributors.
- Leading and mentoring the internal team to meet performance targets.
- Identifying and mitigating risks related to campaigns, contracts, scheduling, artist relationships, or financial decisions.
- Ensuring legal, publishing, licensing, and data compliance procedures are upheld.
Requirements:
- Senior experience in label management, label services, music industry operations, or music startups.
- Proven knowledge of the DSP landscape, artist brand development, marketing strategy, and the release cycle.
- History of producing successful artist campaigns.
- Experience building and managing multiple teams and external agencies.
- Strategic and highly organized approach to work.
- Confidence working in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong project management skills.
- Ability to integrate creativity with business objectives.
- Familiarity with budget creation, reconciliation, cost efficiency, and reporting, including tools like Excel and Xero.
- Strong interpersonal skills, especially in artist relations and internal teamwork.
- Knowledge of project management tools such as Airtable, Trello, or Notion.
- Familiarity with the DSP ecosystem, including Spotify for Artists, Apple Music, and pitching tools.
- Knowledge of data tools such as Chartmetric, Music Ally, and Soundcharts.
- Familiarity with CRM and email marketing tools like OpenStage and Mailchimp.
