Principal Consultant – Smart Health/Wearables/Bio-tech
Senior FPGA Firmware Engineer
Location: Gloucestershire, UK (On-site)
Salary: £65,000 – £80,000 + Bonus
A global Defence & Security company are looking for multiple FPGA Firmware Engineers to join their engineering team developing secure FPGA systems for critical data applications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and optimize FPGA firmware (VHDL) for custom platforms
- Integrate high-bandwidth IP blocks and embedded logic
- Collaborate with hardware/software teams on end-to-end solutions
- Mentor juniors and contribute to technical leadership
Core Skills:
- Strong VHDL expertise
- Intel/Altera (or Xilinx/Achronix) toolchain experience
- Knowledge of high-speed interfaces (DDR, Ethernet etc.)
Bonus Skills:
- Experience with secure or regulated systems
- Hardware design familiarity
- Task planning & team leadership
- Eligible for UK Security Clearance
