We are seeking an Optical Engineer in our Brooklyn Park, MN Location.

All applicants for placement in safety-sensitive positions will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug test.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform alignment, integration and testing of prototype and proof of concept systems, involving lasers, optics, fibers, electronics, software, and mechanical sub-assemblies
  • Build complex, high precision optical sub-assemblies
  • Trouble shoot as well as conduct failure analysis of electro-optical-mechanical systems to improve process and design
  • You will be expected to analyze data to draw conclusions
  • You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Optical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Systems Engineering, and Scientists to deliver state-of-the-art optics solutions

YOU MUST HAVE:

  • Bachelor’s degree minimum
  • 1 year experience with lasers, optics, opto-mechanics, or similar systems
  • Due to Contractual requirements, must be a U.S. Person. defined as, U.S. citizen permanent resident or green card holder, workers granted asylum or refugee status
  • Due to national security requirements imposed by the U.S. Government, candidates for this position must not be a People\’s Republic of China national or Russian national unless the candidate is also a U.S. citizen.

WE VALUE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or engineering
  • Hands-on experience utilizing electro-optical laboratory equipment (e.g., beam profilers, wave meters, CMOS sensors, digital multimeter, PMTs)
  • Extensive experience with optical alignment and assembly
  • Strong knowledge of fibers and lasers.
  • Experience with Test station GUI and control software development, e.g., with Python
  • Experience with lasers, optics, cryogenic, and ultra-high vacuum systems and procedures
  • Optics and mechanical CAD familiarity (e.g. Zemax, Solidworks)
  • Experience with engineering change documentation; Ability to work from assembly drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, sketches and other written, visual and oral instructions
  • Demonstrated experience with 3D printers to make rapid prototypes
