About the Team
The GSMA Innovation Fund (GIF) team was established in March 2020 and is responsible for planning and executing all Innovation Fund rounds on behalf of the GSMA Mobile for Development (M4D) programme. The team manages all stages from design to grantee selection, grant completion, and post-grant follow-up, collaborating with subject matter experts across GSMA. The mission of the team is to support local entrepreneurship and digital innovation through grant funding and technical assistance, with a diverse presence in the UK, Kenya, India, Pakistan, and Indonesia.
About the Role
As an Assistant Operations Manager, you will lead critical operational processes, liaising with senior stakeholders across M4D departments, including experts, compliance, and operations managers. Your role is vital for the operational success of the Innovation Fund, supporting reporting, procurement, and the setup of overlapping funding rounds in collaboration with various teams.
Your responsibilities include:
- Monitoring operational elements of each funding round
- Supporting grant management teams in Africa & Asia
- Identifying and escalating risks and issues
- Supporting reporting in line with donor targets
- Managing relationships with suppliers
- Ensuring compliance with GSMA Foundation rules
- Supporting documentation and process standardization
- Assisting with grant management platform configuration and guidelines
About You
The ideal candidate will have:
- Experience in operations and project management with donor-funded projects
- Experience managing programmes within complex compliance environments
- Procurement management experience
- Results-focused project activity management skills
- Strong escalation and stakeholder management skills
- Effective communication skills for diverse audiences
- Proficiency in Office tools and MS Teams, experience with project management platforms is a plus
- Emotional intelligence and influencing skills
- Cross-cultural and international working experience
- Structured and methodical thinking
