Guardian Command CAD is the flagship product of 3tc Software Solutions, a company recently acquired by Motorola Solutions. We develop mission-critical
software used by UK emergency services, focusing on control room and mobile solutions such as Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) and Mobile Data.
Our systems are trusted 24/7 to coordinate emergency and non-emergency responses and are hosted within Motorola’s secure infrastructure. Guardian Command CAD has dominated the Fire market in recent years, and we’re now expanding into Police services.
Based in Leicester, 3tc has been delivering software to emergency services since the 1980s. We focus on practical solutions, high-quality code, and open
communication in a relaxed and supportive work environment.
Job Description
What You’ll Do:
As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be a key part of our agile development team, focused on building and maintaining complex UI systems using React,
TypeScript, and Electron. You’ll work closely with developers, testers, and product managers to deliver robust, high-performance features.
This role demands deep technical understanding of JavaScript and its ecosystem. You’ll take technical ownership of key areas, mentor developers, and lead
by example in applying scalable, modern frontend engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities:
Design, develop, and maintain frontend features using React and TypeScript.
Own technically complex features and ensure long-term maintainability.
Provide leadership on JavaScript best practices and application architecture.
Mentor and support junior developers through code reviews and guidance.
Ensure frontend performance, security, and accessibility.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to shape new features and resolve issues.
Uphold high standards of testing, documentation, and continuous improvement.
Basic Requirements
Required:
- Strong experience as a Senior Software Engineer or equivalent role
- Deep understanding of JavaScript fundamentals
- Expertise in React and TypeScript
- Experience with ElectronJS and Node.js
- Solid grasp of modern CSS (including SASS) and frontend build tooling
- Familiarity with Git workflows, pull requests, Agile processes, and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across the stack
- Ability to work independently and support team-wide engineering quality
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Desirable:
- Experience with C#/.NET
- Exposure to GraphQL and UI/UX tools such as Figma
- Background in developing complex, high-availability frontend applications
- Knowledge of SOLID principles and scalable UI patterns
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps, GitHub, and Jira for CI/CD, source control, and issue tracking
Additional Requirements:
- Must either hold or be eligible to obtain NPPV3 and SC clearance (requires background checks of you and potentially your family).
- A degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience.
