Are you passionate about transforming data into compelling visual stories? At Penguin Random House, we are looking for a talented Data Visualisation Scientist to join our Data Science and Analytics (DSA) team. In this role, you will work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs and provide actionable insights through innovative data visualisations. Your work will drive commercial decisions and help shape the future of our publishing house.
As a Data Visualisation Scientist, you will be at the forefront of our data-driven initiatives, turning complex data into clear, impactful visual narratives that inform and inspire. You will collaborate with a diverse range of teams, leveraging your expertise to influence key business strategies and contribute to the success of our renowned publishing house.
Key responsibilities:
- Proactively engage with business stakeholders to understand their questions and requirements, and provide data-driven insights and visualisations to address these
- Lead development of front-end data visualisation in DSA, from wireframes and data modelling to user testing and launch.
- Ensure we are at the forefront of data visualisation solutions by seeking innovative new ideas and possibilities for future developments
- Work with Head of Data Science and AI Product in development and delivery of impactful tools
- Support and maintain existing product, proactively troubleshoot data errors and resolve them with the help of Technology, Data Science and Business teams
- Collaborate with the DSA and Data Vis community across PRH and other Bertelsmann group companies to share best practices in data visualisations, lead any related collaborations efforts
What you’ll bring
- Experience in business analysis and problem-solving, with a focus on using data science and statistical analysis to drive business decisions.
- Dashboard development using PowerBI, or advanced experience with other similar data visualisation products such as Tableau, Looker, etc.
- Fluent in SQL; experience using Snowflake or other cloud data warehouses a plus.
- Understanding of data modelling best practice, bringing the data from Data Science output into the front end and writing documentation as you go.
- Good knowledge of data visualisation best practise, know how to tell a story using data to guide business decisions.
Preferred criteria:
- Some experience using Python and a desire to grow in this area

Circa £48,000 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits.
While our offices across the UK are places to connect, collaborate and celebrate with colleagues, we recognise that flexibility around where you work is just as important. For this role, we would expect you to work from our office in London a minimum of one day per week.
