About the Role
In 2021, Costello Medical launched its own in-house Technical Development (TechDev) team. Since then, our talented team have created and developed innovative products and services that enrich our internal workforce and provide exceptional value to our external clients. Blending the power of software development, automation, and research, the TechDev team drives forward the application of technology, streamlining client project outcomes and boosting internal efficiencies across the company.
As the team continues to expand in both size and capability, we are seeking a motivated and ambitious Front-End Developer to support the development and optimisation of high-performing and scalable web applications. You will play a key part in shaping user experiences, enhancing application efficiency, and delivering innovative front-end solutions.

- Engaging in all aspects of front-end development . Apply your expertise to build robust, scalable, and user-friendly interfaces
- Strong collaboration within the TechDev team . Work closely with Senior Developers to build product features and address a variety of challenges
- Delivering with distinction . Ensure the timely delivery of new products and services, adhering to budgets and project deadlines, all whilst maintaining an unwavering commitment to quality and professional integrity

At Costello Medical, our front-end is powered by Angular with Typescript, which enables the creation of dynamic and responsive user interfaces. Meanwhile, on the back-end, we primarily utilise and Go for performance critical services, while Python is employed for AI and machine-learning solutions.
While prior experience with these technologies is a plus, joining our TechDev team means you\’ll have access to comprehensive training and support. We\’re committed to equipping you with the knowledge and skills needed to excel with our technology stack.

Therefore, we offer flexible working arrangements that allow our colleagues who have passed probation to work from home up to half their time, measured across a 2-week rolling period. During your probationary period (normally the first 6 months of the role), you will be able to work from home 1 day per week.

About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic and proactive individual who thrives in fast-paced environments. You will possess the drive and motivation to contribute innovative ideas that enhance our technical service offerings, while bringing a collaborative mindset as our TechDev team continues to grow.
Essential requirements for the role are:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in front-end development, with strong proficiency in TypeScript
- A proven ability to write tests that ensure high-quality code and optimal user experience
- Experience with responsive web design (RWD) principles and frameworks, such as Tailwind CSS and SCSS
- Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills
- An understanding of basic web security best practices, including input validation, secure authentication, and protection against common vulnerabilities
- Strong communication skills, enabling you to build robust and sustainable working relationships with other developers and stakeholders
- Excellent organisational and time management skills
- A high level of productivity, and the flexibility to respond to changing deadlines in a fast-paced working environment
- A willingness to learn and adapt, continuously challenging yourself to develop new technical skills

The Application Process
You are required to submit your CV and a cover letter via our online application form. In your cover letter, you must explain why you think you would be suited to the role and why you would like to join Costello Medical, with examples to support both. Your CV should clearly state the dates of all qualifications and grades achieved where applicable. You will also be invited to share a link to your technical portfolio, should you have one (please note that sharing a portfolio is optional).
Next, you will invited to submit a self-recorded video interview via our online platform, followed by an assessment for you to complete in your own time. If successful, you will proceed to an assessment review with members of our TechDev team. Finally, if successful at this stage, you will be invited to an interview in our office with senior members of the team, which includes a technical portfolio review, if applicable. Please note that whilst providing a portfolio isn’t essential, it may enhance your application if you share one as it will allow you to showcase your technical abilities to our team.
The successful candidate may be required to undergo security/background checks, and any employment offer will be conditional on the results of these. Our standard recruitment process lasts around 3 to 4 weeks, however this can be adapted if necessary.
