Job Description
You're methodical, hands-on, and take pride in precision. Required skills and experience:
- A levels/ONC in Chemistry or a related subject
- Extensive experience in a laboratory setting
- Degree/HNC in Chemistry or related field preferred
- Strong verbal communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Relevant computer skills for data input and results reporting
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
As a Laboratory Technician, you'll work within an established shift structure carrying out the preparation, analysis, and reporting of chemical tests. Your responsibilities will grow in line with your technical grade, with opportunities to develop advanced analytical skills, conduct method validation, lead on training and development, and contribute to continuous improvement projects.
Key activities:
- Receive and process test items/samples
- Prepare reagents, standardise solutions, and conduct chemical tests
- Report results accurately and ensure full traceability of test data
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment
- Participate in equipment calibration and quality control processes
- Develop methods and document SOPs
- Train and supervise junior staff
- Liaise with clients out of hours
- Represent the lab in safety initiatives and quality improvements
