Finance Manager – Wasserman Boxing (12 Month FTC)

Job Description
12 Month Fixed-Term Contract in the Wasserman Boxing team, with potential for conversion to permanent.
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
- Completion of month-end accounting, reconciliations and reporting to U.S. parent entity (P&L and Balance Sheet), as well as review of specific financial balances within the consolidated accounts.
- Preparation and delivery of monthly management packs, providing clear financial insights to Stakeholders including monthly variance analysis, event by event breakdowns, corporate and merchandise store costs and joint venture partner calculations along with actionable commentary to support the business.
- Lead the annual Budgeting process and monthly re-forecasting cycles, including short-term, intermediate and long-range financial planning.
Event Finance Management
- Preparation of pre-event budgets for distribution to Stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and that all revenue and costs are appropriately captured.
- Subsequent completion of post-event reconciliations, including reconciliation of broadcast revenue, ticket sales, sponsorship, merchandise and other revenue, as well as accurately accounting for boxer/purse fees and event & travel related costs in order to evaluate event profitability and provide recommendations for future events.
- Reconcile post-event cash listings, ensuring that all cash balances are recorded, controlled and accounted for and that all costs and inflows are supported by appropriate documentation and cash invoices and journals are accurately posted.
Accounts Payable, Payment Processing & Billing
- Ownership of the weekly payment run process, including invoice approval, supplier onboarding, payment tracking & liaising with stakeholders to ensure alignment and completeness of settlement runs.
- Manage purse payments and trackers, ensuring payments made in accordance with Boxer contracts, correct application of banking validation and currency and application of withholding tax in accordance with local requirements.
- Liaising with the Shared Service Centre to ensure timely invoice processing.
- Review and approval of employee expenses, ensuring correct coding and allocation.
Joint Venture
- Calculate and update the billing position with Joint Venture partners on a monthly basis, including ongoing update of all historic events as well as centralised, corporate and non-event costs.
- Recalculate partner profit shares for all relevant events including legal, operational, and production subsidies.
Payroll, Audit & Tax Compliance
- Review monthly payroll for accuracy and compliance.
- Manage the external audit process, including ongoing liaising with auditors and responding to queries, providing requested samples and ensuring that annual accounts are accurate, compliant and filed to deadline.
- Liaise with internal and external tax advisors regarding withholding tax implications for international events.
- Submission of quarterly UK and annual FEU/WHT returns, ensuring timely payments to HMRC and distribution of relevant forms to Boxers for personal tax reporting requirements.
Stakeholder Support & Ad Hoc Tasks
- Responding to ad hoc financial requests from the Boxing team & internal stakeholders.
- Support the Finance Director to achieve Wasserman Boxing\’s operational goals.
- Participate in monthly review meetings and other finance-related projects as required.
Key Skills & Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Experience in a similar Finance Manager or experienced Management Accountant role, ideally within sports, events or entertainment sectors.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and financial systems (e.g. Workday, SAP, Oracle or similar).
- Strong communication skills, with confidence and ability to liaise effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
