We are seeking to appoint an exceptional individual to our Board of Directors as a Non-Executive Director. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence the strategic direction, oversight, and governance of an internationally renowned children’s hospital.

Non-Executive Director – People and Culture Background

We seek a Non-Executive Director with significant experience in workforce transformation, organizational development, or people strategy. You will provide insights into creating inclusive, healthy workplace cultures aligned with strategic objectives and help shape and scrutinize our people-focused frameworks. Experience may be from the public or private sectors. You will serve on the People and Education Assurance Committee and one of the following:

  • Quality, Safety and Experience Assurance Committee
  • Audit Committee
  • Finance and Performance Committee

The ideal candidate will be a strategic, inclusive, and values-driven leader with experience working at or near Board level. You should demonstrate sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to analyze complex information, offer constructive challenge and support, and champion our mission and values.

Time Commitment and Remuneration

This role requires approximately 2 to 3 days per month. Remuneration aligns with NHS Foundation Trust guidelines and will be discussed with shortlisted candidates.

GOSH is an international centre of excellence in paediatric healthcare, dedicated since 1852 to providing the best care for children with complex and rare conditions. We see nearly 300,000 patient visits annually and offer over 60 specialist services, making us the largest paediatric centre in the UK for services including intensive care and cardiac surgery.

Research and Innovation

GOSH leads in paediatric research, with a thriving R&I programme underpinning its mission to transform lives. Our collaborations include the UK’s only paediatric Biomedical Research Centre with UCL, and we are a lead provider for the North Thames Genomics Medicine Centre, part of the 100,000 Genomes Project.

Education and Training

The GOSH Learning Academy (GLA) provides world-class education and training to healthcare professionals, including partnerships with Middlesex University for postgraduate paediatric education.

Children’s Cancer Centre

The new Children’s Cancer Centre (CCC) will be a national hub for children with complex cancers, featuring state-of-the-art facilities and integrated services.
