Risk Surveyor – Renewable Energy

We are currently looking for a Risk Surveyor in Renewable Energy to be based in London on a full-time basis, reporting into the Risk Control Manager

Responsibilities:

  • To confirm that the risk conditions reflect the Underwriters policy inception expectations.
  • To advise Underwriters of those risks that present an unacceptable risk.
  • To advise Underwriters of action required to improve a risk to meet acceptable standards.
  • To advise those risks that are acceptable and likely to be profitable to Underwriters.
  • To provide rapid feedback on Risk issues to Underwriters allowing quick decisions to be made.
  • Written reports to be sent to Risk Control Manager within 10 working days of the survey visit.
  • Undertake other duties as directed within the level of the job function.
  • Help drive forward good Conduct for the business to deliver the best outcomes for customers / policyholders.
  • Understand all appropriate lines of escalation and the responsibilities of the Product Conduct Risk Strategy Group (PCRSG), Underwriting & Claims Sub Committee (UCSC), ExCo and Board for Conduct Risk.

Knowledge and Skills

  • A diplomatic approach with the ability to handle conflict situations coupled with a common sense approach to the business by providing sound technical advice and solutions.
  • The ability to inspire confidence in clients and to persuade clients of the need to implement the advice given to reduce risk.
  • The aptitude to investigate and assess technical risks and to retain large amounts of technical knowledge.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • A motivated, results-driven approach and the ability to work alone and as part of a team.
  • The ability to use appropriate technical equipment e.g. survey templates and digital photographic equipment.
  • A flexible approach for dealing with changes in working methods and techniques.
  • Report writing skills.
  • A strong technical background with 4-5 years' experience in the renewable energy space ( either Wind or Solar) and ideally with some experience in the insurance industry whether underwriting / broking / loss adjusting / surveying
  • A good appreciation of green technology topics and understand the challenges facing this market from a loss control perspective (LPS / hail testing / thermal runaways etc)
