We have an exciting opportunity for an Underwriter to join our Structured Portfolio Finance team focused on growing a profitable portfolio of non-payment credit risks.

How you will create an impact

Our extensive and specialised trade finance team helps protect Financial Institutions and Corporates against the risk of non-payment or insolvency of the obligor(s) in trade finance transactions. Our deep understanding of the industry, environment and operations and a truly global reach enables AIG to support clients mitigate credit risk and manage capital more efficiently.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing strong relationships with brokers and clients to grow the Underwriter’s portfolio of structured trade and non-trade related credit opportunities
  • Underwriting new and renewal insurance submissions and negotiating policy terms and conditions
  • Analysing domestic and international corporate credits, evaluating financial information, deal modelling and rater analysis and recommending or approving appropriate credit limits
  • Participating in drafting credit memorandum for new and existing business approval
  • Professionally maintaining and properly servicing an existing portfolio of credit insurance business
  • Marketing, selling and presenting to brokers and insureds to increase submission flow
  • Engaging in various underwriting and marketing projects to improve overall company results
  • Training, mentoring, providing technical direction to fellow Underwriters to contribute to group revenue targets and meeting internal operations/audit directives for the division
  • Meeting operating and audit guidelines and goals of senior management
  • Participating in and completing special projects as required by the profit centre
  • Regular collaboration with AIG distribution colleagues in identifying and closing non-payment insurance credit opportunities

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Qualified candidates should have a background in credit or financial analysis and strong commercial development skills.
  • Up to 5 years of experience in an underwriting capacity is preferred.
  • Experience in trade credit, finance, or banking preferred
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Cap IQ, Salesforce, Factiva
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills
  • Bachelor\’s degree in business or finance preferred
  • Second language proficiency valued
