Deputy Ward Manager – Acute Mental Health ServicesPrivate Mental Health Hospital – East Sussex £43,014 – £46,314 DOE Full Time | Permanent | 37.5 hours per week Are you a dedicated mental health nurse looking to take the next step in your leadership career? An exciting opportunity awaits in a well-respected independent hospital in the heart of East Sussex. Set in a peaceful rural setting, this private hospital provides a range of mental health inpatient services for both male and female adults, offering therapeutic care in a calm and well-resourced environment. The team is passionate about delivering safe, person-centred, and recovery-focused support—now seeking a proactive Deputy Ward Manager to help lead one of their acute wards. What you’ll be doing as a Deputy Ward Manager:
  • Supporting the Ward Manager in the day-to-day coordination of the ward
  • Leading by example to uphold high standards of care and team development
  • Promoting a therapeutic ward culture and safe environment for all
  • Ensuring robust care planning, risk assessment, and clinical governance
  • Taking an active role in audits, quality initiatives, and staff mentoring

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Registered Nurse ( RMN / RNLD / RGN ) with current NMC pin
  • Experience in mental health care, ideally within an inpatient setting
  • Previous senior nurse or leadership experience
  • Strong clinical skills, clear communication, and a compassionate approach
