Working as part of a skilled multidisciplinary team, Head Medical is seeking a Consultant Anaesthetist (General) to work at a leading private hospital in the UK.
Based in Shepton Mallet, Somerset, you will join a professional, friendly, and compassionate team dedicated to providing high-quality patient care. The organization emphasizes prompt, high-standard treatment in clean, comfortable surroundings.

In this key role, you\’ll anaesthetise patients for various procedures—from ophthalmology to orthopaedics, gynaecology, and general surgery. Besides clinical duties, you\’ll engage in departmental administration, management, and mentoring less experienced colleagues.
This role is mainly elective, except for postoperative cases requiring return to theatre. You will also participate in outpatient pre-assessment on a rota basis.
The successful candidate will have extensive independent experience in the procedures listed, an excellent clinical record, and the ability to perform efficiently in theatre.

A typical schedule involves 40 hours of clinical work weekly, including occasional Saturdays, with flexible arrangements. Five hours of SPA time are allocated weekly, with flexibility to accommodate leave and planned rotas.

- 25 inpatient beds
- Outpatients department covering specialties like ENT, general surgery, orthopaedics, urology, ophthalmology, gynaecology, and pain management. Physiotherapy services are available for inpatients and outpatients.
Requirements to apply?

- FRCA or equivalent specialized training and academic achievement
- Full GMC registration in Anaesthesia
- ALS certification
