A leading organisation is seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Editorial Coordinator to join its growing Editorial & Publishing Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with publishing experience to support the strategic development of a reputable journal portfolio while working in a dynamic, mission-driven environment.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the content and growth of six specialist journals, working closely with the Publisher, internal teams, editors, authors, and reviewers to deliver high-quality content and ensure efficient editorial workflows.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and improvement of editorial workflows and systems.
- Liaise with editors, authors, and reviewers to support peer review and production processes.
- Contribute to journal growth through commissioning, editor recruitment, and content development.
- Manage editorial tasks including permissions, rights management, and database maintenance.
- Engage with editors and authors through calls, email communication, and outreach initiatives.
- Assist with journal strategy execution, tracking submission pipelines and processing metrics.
- Attend academic conferences (occasionally, including international travel).
- Support marketing efforts with newsletter content, press releases, and social media materials.
- Help coordinate author video recordings and special content features.
Requirements
Essential:
- 1-2 years\’ experience in publishing (preferably STM or open access).
- Strong communication and organisation skills, with a keen eye for detail.
- Excellent written and spoken English, with solid grammar and proofreading abilities.
- Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities effectively.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.
Desirable:
- Degree in biology, health sciences, or a related field.
- Experience using editorial management systems.
- Understanding of rights and permissions, and publishing ethics.
- Comfortable working with physicians and academics.
- Some copywriting experience for marketing and promotional materials.
