Autumnal Partners are leading the search for a Group Financial Controller on behalf of a growing boutique investment bank. This is a newly created, senior-level role offering significant scope and visibility across the business.
Role Overview:
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of group financial reporting, controls, and regulatory compliance, while managing a small team and supporting the CFO on strategic financial matters. This is a broad, hands-on role ideally suited to a technically strong finance professional with experience in a regulated investment banking or broker-dealer environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the preparation of consolidated financial statements, management accounts, and board reporting.
- Maintain a robust financial control environment and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee all regulatory reporting (e.g., FCA returns), working closely with compliance and legal functions.
- Manage the audit process and maintain effective relationships with external auditors and advisers.
- Continuously enhance finance systems, processes, and internal controls to support the group’s growth.
- Support the CFO with capital planning, liquidity oversight, and strategic financial modelling.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small, high-performing finance team across group entities
Candidate Profile
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with at least 7–10 years of post-qualified experience.
- Experience within an investment bank, broker-dealer, or similar regulated financial services environment is essential.
- Strong technical knowledge of relevant IFRS reporting standards (eg. IFRS 9) and group consolidation.
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to manage a small team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial setting.
- Commercially astute with strong communication skills and a hands-on approach.
