We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Civil Engineer to join a fantastic growing consultancy based in York.
The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise, consultancy experience, and proven project delivery skills across sectors such as housing development, energy infrastructure (data centers), and highways. This role offers the opportunity to lead exciting projects, work closely with clients, and support the professional development of junior engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and deliver civil engineering projects from inception through to completion.
- Undertake detailed design work including Civil 3D design , earthworks modelling , and drainage network modelling .
- Prepare and oversee the production of high-quality technical reports and design documents.
- Manage project timelines, budgets, and deliverables with minimal supervision.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and maintain strong working relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Mentor and coach junior engineers, supporting their technical and professional development.
- Support the preparation of planning and technical reports such as Flood Risk Assessments , Transport Assessments , and CAD-based drawings (as required).
- Uphold best practices in project management, quality assurance, and health and safety.
What you\’ll bring:
Experience:
- Proven consultancy experience working on civil engineering projects.
- Demonstrable experience across multiple sectors including housing , energy infrastructure , or highways .
- Experience in client-facing roles.
Knowledge:
- Proficiency in Civil 3D , earthworks modelling , and drainage network modelling . (Essential)
- Understanding of Flood Risk Assessments , CAD , and Transport Assessments . (Desirable)
Skills:
- Strong report writing and technical documentation skills.
- Effective project management and delivery capabilities.
- Ability to independently manage tasks and oversee multiple project streams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain relationships internally and externally.
- Proven ability in mentoring and coaching junior team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership.
