Job Description
As a key member of the Transport team, you will lead and manage shift operations within a multi-temperature food distribution environment. You'll oversee shift handovers, manage driver performance and vehicle standards, ensure transport legislation compliance, and support financial and operational KPIs.

Description
This is a fantastic opportunity to lead and develop a high-performing transport team within a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
You will drive operational excellence by managing people and resources effectively, maintaining rigorous health, safety, and compliance standards. Including :
- Manage and plan shifts and labour to meet or exceed budget and productivity targets.
- Ensure clear handovers, accurate reporting, and high delivery accuracy.
- Train, develop, and manage team performance across the full employee life cycle.
- Ensure drivers represent the company professionally and maintain vehicle cleanliness.
- Deputise for senior managers as required.
- Monitor journey times, vehicle status, and trailer temperatures, acting promptly on issues.
- Lead shift meetings, maintain attendance records, and prepare operational reports.
- Provide feedback to customer service and ensure continuous improvement through effective debriefs.
- Support financial reporting and ensure compliance with transport legislation and company policies.
- Conduct regular yard inspections and maintain a safe and compliant working areas.

- Have experience of managing teams in a similar FMCG operation preferably in a unionised environment.

- Be a strong communicator and team player with excellent organisational skills.
- Be an innovative thinker with knowledge of Lean principles and scheduling systems (Paragon, AS400/JD Edwards).
- Be customer-focused, resourceful, and committed to delivering quality results on time.
