Senior Design Engineer
As a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for managing all design engineering principles, creating new project designs, and improving the established product range. You will provide clear leadership, mentor and guide the team, and ensure high standards and principles are adhered to. An ideal candidate will have experience in design for manufacture, offer sound engineering practices, and be able to consider the financial aspects of each design. You will also be involved in managing resources efficiently, monitoring and reporting, liaising with internal and external stakeholders, and supervising, training and mentoring design engineers.
Responsibilities as Senior Design Engineer
– Manage all design engineering principles
– Create new project designs and improve the established product range
– Provide clear leadership and mentorship to the team
– Motivate team members and prioritise tasks
– Design for manufacturability and ensure sound engineering practices
– Ensure financial considerations are taken into account for each design
– Effectively manage the resources of the department
– Monitor and report on design engineering activities
– Liaise with internal and external stakeholders
– Supervise, train, and mentor design engineers
– Optimise the design of products and focus on continuous improvement
– Develop and manage a program of continuous improvement within design engineering
– Upkeep of the ERP system and improvement of engineering processes
– Ensure quality assurance processes are followed, reviewed, and updated
Qualifications as Senior Design Engineer
– Bachelor\’s degree in Engineering or related field or a similar qualification in a related industry or field
– Proven experience in a design engineering role within and engineering or manufacturing sector
– Strong leadership and mentoring skills
– Experience in design for manufacturability
– Knowledge of sound engineering practices
