Reliability Engineer

Description

We’re looking for a Reliability Engineer to join our team at Breedon Hope Cement Works. In this role, you will play an integral role in ensuring the continuous operation and long-term performance of critical equipment used in the cement production process. You will be responsible for inspecting, monitoring and reviewing the health of equipment such as rotating machinery and fixed plant to ensure that they operate efficiently and without unplanned disruptions.

The role is based within our Hope Works Cement plant in the Peak District. As the largest cement manufacturer in the UK, we produce around 1.5 million tonnes of cement annually. With a proud history dating back to 1929, our plant plays a crucial role in the local economy, employing over 200 skilled professionals and utilising local materials to drive sustainable growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspecting and monitoring the health of key equipment like motors, fans, pumps, conveyors, and elevators.
  • Analysing data from vibration and oil analysis to predict potential failures and recommend preventative actions.
  • Collaborating with Maintenance and Operations teams to prioritise and schedule work based on equipment criticality.
  • Reporting on equipment condition and performance trends, and suggesting improvements.
  • Supporting safety and compliance, ensuring all work aligns with company policies and regulatory standards.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement, identifying ways to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
  • Mentoring apprentices, sharing your knowledge and helping to develop the next generation of engineers.

Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

  • Experience in the cement industry or a similar heavy industrial environment.
  • Completed an apprenticeship/ degree/ equivalent training or can demonstrate relevant experience.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • IT literate, comfortable using maintenance management systems and handheld technology.
  • A team player with a positive attitude, strong personal integrity, and a commitment to safety and continuous improvement.
