What you\’ll do

  • Support a variety of training efforts, with a strong emphasis on aviation
  • Train internal and external customers, including airline personnel and maintenance technicians, on the maintenance, installation, and support system structure for multiple Viasat satellite communication terminal system solutions
  • Design curricula and develop engaging training materials, using industry-standard development tools to produce high-quality content
  • Employ a variety of adult learning methodologies to design and create assessments, simulations, interactive exercises, and quizzes
  • Effectively handle multiple training projects simultaneously
  • Navigate unfamiliar environments to implement the principles of Instructional Design
  • Collaborate with internal subject matter authorities across multiple operation teams to document, validate, and reference technical information and standard processes
  • Communicate with and support the Field Service team and Customer Support Center to understand trending issues, resolutions and process improvements to integrate and update training content and delivery
  • Travel to provide training to customer and vendor installation and maintenance personnel
  • Deliver technical training programs to airline personnel, maintenance technicians, and other stakeholders on the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Viasat\’s IFEC systems
  • Design and develop training courses applying effective methodologies to organize the content and flow of information
  • Work within the team environment smoothly and efficiently to contribute to the overall success of the team in deliverables and customer satisfaction
  • Establish and maintain solid working relationships with internal resources, airline partners, and third-party vendors
  • Develop and maintain training materials in accordance with FAA Part 145 regulations and industry best practices
  • Assist and support the creation and ongoing maintenance of operational documentation as well as training content

The day-to-day

The daily responsibilities of this role are multifaceted and driven by evolving customer and program demands. This encompasses several key areas:

  • FAA Regulatory Training: Developing and delivering training programs specifically to meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulatory requirements
  • Analysing, Developing, and delivering (IFC) systems for airline partners
  • Internal Customer Support Training: Designing and implementing training initiatives for internal customer support teams
  • Train-the-Trainer Programs: Facilitating programs to equip internal personnel with the skills and knowledge to effectively deliver training
  • Training Gap Analysis: Conducting detailed program analyses to identify and address training deficiencies across various areas

What you\’ll need

  • Proficient in delivering classroom and OJT, including the ability to interact and communicate effectively with diverse work groups while maintaining control of the learning environment and outcome
  • Ability to develop, use, and follow curriculum guides
  • Ability to read and interpret complex wiring diagrams related to aircraft systems
  • Experience in developing course designs, course materials, student resource materials, educational aids, and similar enlightening materials
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Exceptional attention to detail in delivery as well as creating and proofing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work closely with internal subject matter experts to gather and document information and processes
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with diverse groups, including engineering teams, program management, customers, and 3rd party vendors
  • Ability to travel up to 20% percent domestic and international
  • Minimum 3 years of training in Satellite Communication or Technical environment

What will help you on the job

  • Proven ability in training within the aviation industry, specifically related to satellite communications or avionics systems
  • Valid Airframe and Powerplant certificate or Valid Airframe certificate
  • Experience developing eLearning programs that are SCORM/AICC (Claro, Lectora, Articulate, Captivate)
  • Experience using Adobe tools – eLearning Suite, Adobe Captivate, Photoshop, Illustrator, Flash, Premier Pro, Audition, After Effects, Edge, InDesign and Open Source
  • Video development experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of LMS’s and LCMS’s
  • Experience with on-wing training/maintenance
