Position Overview

As Lead Solutions Architect, you will be responsible for designing and delivering end-to-end media cloud architectures that meet complex business needs. You will ensure alignment between project technical goals and the organization’s strategic objectives, maintaining the highest quality, security, and performance standards.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, cloud providers, and SaaS vendors to design scalable and innovative media workflows. Acting as both a hands-on expert and technical leader, you will drive solutions that empower digital transformation initiatives and long-term customer success.

This role requires a combination of deep technical knowledge, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to engage with stakeholders at every level. You will also play a key role in mentoring the wider solutions team and ensuring high standards in all technical project work.

Key Responsibilities

Solution Architecture Leadership

• Define and deliver scalable, efficient, and secure media cloud architectures.
• Translate complex media and business workflow requirements into effective technical solutions.
• Align project technical goals with organisational strategic goals.
• Maintain strong documentation practices, including architecture diagrams, integration plans, and API specifications.
• Stay current with emerging media, cloud, and SaaS technologies to continuously enhance solutions.

Technical Delivery and Execution

• Oversee technical delivery across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with quality, security, and performance standards.
• Interface directly with cloud providers (AWS, IBM Cloud, GCP) and an array of our strategic SaaS vendor partners (across MAM, Transcoding, Remote Edit, AI Indexing, Rights Management, Content Publishing, and more) for well-architected solution design and integration.
• Oversee the end-to-end testing, QA, and UAT processes for technical deliverables.
• Provide technical consultation to customer accounts throughout the contract lifecycle, advising on optimizations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with consultants, cloud engineering, software development, and QA teams to ensure smooth design implementation.
• Attend technical pre-sales sales meetings to assess customer requirements and recommend appropriate solutions.
• Collaborate with account management and support teams to streamline customer workflows.

Team Leadership and Mentorship

• Foster a collaborative and innovative culture in line with base’s core values.
• Define clear outcomes and expectations that align with organizational goals.
• Be a hands-on, player-coach team leader who both works on major Enterprise accounts, whilst leading your sub-team to your high standards.
• Provide mentorship to the Solutions Architecture team, driving team learning and professional growth.
• Work in lock-step with the Lead Business Analyst and Senior Program Manager to ensure seamless communication between core Program teams, providing top-quality outcomes for our professional services customers.

Risk and Compliance Management

• Ensure design compliance with industry standards (ISO27001, GDPR, AI data act).
• Identify potential technical risks and develop mitigation strategies.
• Advocate for security best practices across all solution designs and integrations, while maintaining project profitability and ensuring high development velocity.

Essential Experience:

• Minimum of 8 years in engineering, solution architecture, or related technical roles within the media or broadcast industries, with demonstrable cloud experience.
• Proven experience with AWS (primary), IBM Cloud or Google Cloud, and a range of SaaS platforms including MAM systems, transcoding, and content distribution tools.
• Previous experience designing complex software integrations via APIs.
• Proven track record in leading complex technical projects and stakeholder engagement.

Technical Knowledge:

• Hands-on experience in IT infrastructure, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, IBM Cloud), networking, and software integration.
• Strong knowledge of media formats, media workflows, and cloud-based media distribution.
• Familiarity with security best practices for infrastructure and application development.
• Solid understanding of serverless hosting environments (e.g., AWS Lambda, Docker).

Communication and Business Systems:

• Excellent written, visual diagramming, and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency with business systems (e.g., Jira, Confluence).
