As an apprentice you will join an established technical team in the CNC Engineering Workshop and will be provided with an excellent opportunity to start a career as a Technician. During the apprenticeship you will learn & develop the necessary skills, expertise and experience to provide assistance to the members of the technical team and ultimately be able to fully perform the role of Fabrication and Welding Technician in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering. In partnership with Belfast Metropolitan College, learning and development will include on-job-training, mentoring and the opportunity to gain a recognised qualification. Have a minimum of 5 GCSE\’s, A*-C (9-4) or equivalent, to include Maths and English. Hold, or be about to obtain, a relevant Level 2 Engineering apprenticeship to enable you to undertake a Level 3 Fabrication and Welding Apprenticeship. Ability to develop and demonstrate standard procedures processes and techniques in relation to engineering workshop practice. Must have a keen interest in a mechanical engineering discipline. Must be willing to work additional hours for time in lieu during peak periods needed. *Apprenticeships are designed to develop new knowledge and skills at a higher level than you already have, or in a new vocational area. So, you will not be eligible to apply if you already hold the same or similar qualification in the vocational area of the apprenticeship.
