What your typical day looks like:
- Managing the procurement, receipt, and distribution of medications across urgent care sites, ensuring stock levels meet service demands.
- Maintaining accurate stock control records, including controlled drugs, and ensuring safe storage, temperature monitoring, and stock rotation.
- Liaising with site staff to monitor medication usage and organise timely replenishments, including site visits where necessary.
- Disposing of out-of-date medications safely and supporting robust audit processes in line with DHU Medicines Code.
- Contributing to service quality and patient safety by attending training, upholding confidentiality, and following infection control procedures.
To be a successful Urgent Care Pharmacy Technician / Dispenser you\’ll need:
- A Level-2 Pharmacy Dispenser qualification as a minimum.
- A good standard of education (GCSE Grade C/4 or above, including English) or equivalent work-based experience.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Confidence in working independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail, accurate record keeping, and effective problem-solving skills.
- A commitment to patient safety and quality service.
- Willingness to travel to various sites as part of your role.
Desirable:
- NVQ3 Pharmacy Technician or equivalent.
- Experience within a community or hospital pharmacy setting.
