We are looking for a highly motivated lawyer with the ability to work semi-supervised supporting a fast-paced and dynamic business. The role involves working closely with the Fund Services Business, liaising with other corporate functions within Morgan Stanley as required. The position is in the Legal Department, based in London (Canary Wharf), with a proportionate amount of time spent with the trading floor.

The Fund Services Lawyer – Vice President will work closely with the Fund Services Business on negotiating complex transactions, product development, legal policies, and day-to-day support. The role offers extensive contact with senior business personnel within Securities Services and significant career development opportunities.

Job responsibilities:
  • Provide legal guidance and expertise to the Fund Services Business across Europe, including advice, negotiation, and drafting of transaction documents and contracts.
  • Offer day-to-day legal advice and guidance related to the flow business and other ad hoc legal matters.
  • Collaborate with the Fund Services Business and industry groups to assess and implement new regulatory requirements.
  • Assess legal risks, advise on mitigation strategies, and review policies and procedures.
  • Attend internal and external meetings.
  • Liaise with external counsel as needed.
  • Advise on key legal and regulatory issues.
  • Participate in projects and develop operational processes with legal impact.
  • Assist in implementing new initiatives.
  • Coordinate with business representatives, legal, compliance, and other control functions across EMEA, US, and Asia.
Required qualifications, skills, and capabilities:
  • Minimum of 5 years post-qualification experience with a City law firm or equivalent, in private practice or in-house.
  • Strong understanding of traditional and alternative investment funds.
  • Ability to understand business needs and develop solutions.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Pragmatic with good business sense.
  • Understanding of legal and business risk interplay.
  • Effective interaction with clients.
  • Strong negotiation and drafting skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage complex projects, and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
