We are seeking an experienced Lead Engineer within Verification & Validation, to lead programmes within the functional systems engineering team. This is a key role to drive the delivery of critical defence capabilities while supporting in-service operations for a major air defence system. You will lead a growing team of Systems Engineers to ensure certification delivery timescales are met under challenging and dynamic conditions. This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact on current and future military capabilities while working across multiple customer programmes.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the UK programme for the functional systems engineering team
- Deliver certification requirements for defence programmes to strict timescales
- Support the In-Service Support team in maintaining and enhancing existing capabilities
- Manage and develop a team of systems engineers to achieve programme objectives
- Adapt leadership approach to meet evolving challenges and maintain strategic vision
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to drive engagement and influence partners
- Work independently across the organisation to deliver engineering solutions
Candidate Requirements:
- Proven experience in systems engineering processes in a highly regulated industry (ideally defence, aerospace or a related industry)
- Track record of managing teams to deliver Certificates of Design for defence programmes
- Experience with DOORS requirements management tool
- Strong requirements management process knowledge
- Ability to assess and synthesise evidence from multiple sources
- Experience organising and managing small engineering teams
- Adaptability to new challenges and changing priorities
