About The Ned:
The Ned and Ned’s Club is a global collection of hotels, clubs, spas, and restaurants for like-minded individuals to meet, work and have a good time. The Ned launched in 2017 in the heart of the City, in the former Midland Bank headquarters. The Ned City of London houses Ned’s Club - a private members’ space, gym and rooftop - alongside a public spa, a whole floor of event spaces, ten restaurants and bars and 250 hotel bedrooms. Since opening in London, we have grown to include The Ned Doha, The Ned NoMad in New York, and most recently our first ever Club only venue – Ned’s Club Washington DC. With more openings in the pipeline, now is an amazing time to be joining the business if you want to build a career in the future.
About Ned’s University:
Ned’s University is a collaboration between The Ned and the University of Gloucestershire. You will spend four days per week working out and about in our vibrant luxury hotel, and one day per week completing your degree studies. The degree learning will be taught on-site here in London by a “flying faculty” who travel in from the university specially for the programme. Ned’s University launched in 2024 which means our first class are nearing the end of year one. We’ve learned as much as them in the first year and are back with a refined programme ready to welcome a class of eager learners wanting to kick start their hospitality management career.
You will spend at least one year rotating through food and beverage departments and one year rotating through hotel functions - some of them you’ll enjoy more than others but that is all part of the learning. Hospitality is a varied industry with many options so while studying you’ll also be gaining valuable experience and figuring out where your career may lie.
We’re a 24-hour operation and each department works different shift patterns so you can expect that to be a big part of your three-year programme, but we’ll always be mindful of your study days.
How much will my degree cost? Absolutely nothing. As an apprentice your degree studies will be fully paid for by us from our apprenticeship levy. In fact, you’ll get paid a full-time wage while you’re here – your study days are counted as part of your working hours, so you’ll be paid for them too.
What The Ned can give you:
- You’ll be paid hourly, at £14 per hour including service charge. Based on a 40-hour working week this is approximately £29,000 per year
- A fully funded, accredited degree
- Complimentary meals in our friendly team restaurant, Neddy’s - including monthly payday breakfast
- Exclusive rates at The Ned for staying and eating for you, your family and friends
- Wellbeing and health benefits, including Reward Gateway and Wagestream, with access to gym, shopping and cinema discounts
- Your birthday off after a year of service and more holiday after five years of service
- Paid volunteer day
- Refer a friend scheme
- Regular social events, including an annual pool party at our rooftop club
- Employee assistance program – 24/7 advice and support
- Reward and recognition initiatives
What you can bring to the role:
- This programme is designed to give your hospitality leadership career a kick start, so a passion for the industry is essential – and some previous experience would be preferred
- We’re a 24-hour operation and your programme will certainly involve working weekends, late nights, and maybe even overnight shifts at some points. You’ll need to be flexible with your availability and live somewhere with travel options available at all times
- Hospitality is a relationships business. Whether it’s a member, a hotel or restaurant guest, or one of your colleagues, you’ll be the kind of person that leaves a smile on the face of everyone you interact with
- This programme is a three-year commitment between us and you, and during that three years there will undoubtedly be some parts you enjoy more or less than others. You’ll be mature enough to accept that this is part of any job, and resilient enough to stay focused on the bigger picture and still give your best in areas that might not be your personal favourite
- The Ned is known for high standards in everything we do, so you’ll have a great eye for details and be obsessed with getting the small details perfect
