The successful candidate will be the go-to person for assessing damage, validating claims, and overseeing repair projects, mainly for domestic but also some commercial properties. They will conduct detailed site inspections, interpret policy coverage, and prepare comprehensive repair schedules to ensure smooth claims progression. Collaborating with contractors and stakeholders, they will maintain high standards of quality, compliance, and customer service throughout every stage of the process.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified Building Surveyor with membership of a relevant professional body and a degree in Building Surveying or a related discipline. They will bring solid experience managing both general perils and subsidence claims, ideally within the insurance sector. With strong technical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a proactive, organised approach, they will be confident working independently and comfortable with regional travel and occasional overnight stays.

The successful candidate will receive a competitive salary package, complemented by a £6,000 car allowance and an annual discretionary bonus paid at Christmas. Roles & Responsibilities
  • Carry out site inspections to validate insurance claims and assess property damage
  • Interpret insurance policies to determine liability and scope of work
  • Prepare detailed repair schedules and oversee claims through to resolution
  • Manage and coordinate external contractors, ensuring quality and compliance
  • Liaise professionally with all stakeholders, including policyholders and suppliers
  • Attend site visits for complex claims and support other team members as needed
  • Investigate and manage subsidence-related claims where appropriate
  • Ensure compliance with internal processes, client SLAs and Health and Safety legislation
  • Prepare high-quality reports within agreed timelines
Skills & Experience
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (RICS, CIOB, CILA, etc.) is essential
  • Degree in Building Surveying, Construction, or related discipline is essential
  • Previous experience with both general perils and subsidence claims is essential
  • Strong experience as a Building Surveyor, ideally within insurance claims
  • Comfortable with regional travel and occasional overnight stays
  • Expertise in building pathology and knowledge of UK construction standards
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple projects independently
